Job Description

The Raleigh Convention & Performing Arts Complex invites qualified candidates to apply for the part-time position of Performing Arts Stage Technician . Stagehands of all skill levels are encouraged to apply. Possible areas of work include but are not limited to lighting, audio, video, scenic, properties and wardrobe.
Work Hours:
Please note that the work hours of this temporary, part-time position vary depending on the event schedule. Night, holiday, and weekend work is required. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Follow supervisory directions safely and effectively Help in the safe installation, operation, and dismantling of equipment and materials as required by the performing group and or house
Education or Experience:
Knowledge of commonly used theatrical terminology, methods, materials and fasteners is necessary for some roles but not required for entry level responsibilities Experience in a theatrical, construction or manufacturing environment is necessary for some roles but not required for entry level responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication, attentiveness, listening to and interpreting of directions Use basic hand tools and basic portable power tools as applicable Organization and the ability to follow through on tasks Basic math and measuring Working quickly, often in proximity with other employees Attention to the surrounding workspace and other employees Work effectively at height or in low light situations Coordinating and collaborating work with other employees Attention to deadlines in a fast-paced environment Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); frequent exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions, intense noise or travel.
