Youth Tech Theatre Camp Teaching Artist Alexa Teebo Voice Studio West Orange, NJ Job Details Part-time | Contract $20 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teaching visual & performing arts Teamwork Working with children Classroom experience Teaching Full Job Description Summary Perfect for college students, recent grads, teaching artists, or early-career creatives looking to build experience in arts education and youth programming. As a workshop facilitator focused on Tech Theatre, you'll lead fun, hands-on activities that introduce kids to the creative side of theatre design. You'll work closely with the Camp Director and Onsite Coordinator to create a supportive, energetic environment where campers can experiment, make art, and build confidence through technical theatre projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with kids, loves theatre and design, and wants the freedom to create their own workshops and activities. No advanced theatre degree or equipment is needed. The focus is on creativity, collaboration, and simple hands-on projects. Program Details Aug. 17-28 (Monday-Thursday) Camp runs 9 AM - 3 PM Max 10 hours/week $400 contract stipend Teaching ages 6-11 Workshops should be beginner-friendly and project-based, with activities lasting around 30-40 minutes. Examples in the past have included collages, basic costume construction, shoebox set models, prop-making, simple makeup design, lighting color concepts, and more. Campers should leave each week with something tangible they created. Responsibilities Design and lead your own beginner-level tech theatre workshops and activities Create a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment Supervise and engage campers during activities and transitions Encourage creativity and self-expression Adapt activities for different learning styles and energy levels Help maintain positive behavior and classroom structure Qualifications Interest or experience in theatre, design, visual arts, or tech theatre Comfortable working with children in a camp, classroom, or mentorship setting Strong communication and group leadership skills Organized, dependable, and creative Experience in education, childcare, theatre, or arts programming is a plus, but not required Familiarity with behavior management or inclusive teaching practices is helpful, but not required
