Job Description

Job Title:
Performing Arts Center Manager Location:
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Performing Arts Center Reports to:
Fine & Performing Arts Coordinator FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Primary Duties Production & Event Management ?
Lead Oversight:
Serve as the primary Production Manager for the majority of venue events. ?
Logistics & A/V:
Manage event logistics and facilitate all audio/visual service coordination. ?
Technical Coordination:
Oversee sound, lighting, and stage management in collaboration with support staff to execute client requests. ?
Customer Experience:
Maintain high standards of customer service for all stakeholders, addressing feedback to continuously enhance the audience experience. ?
Rentals:
Assist with price quotes and contracts for commercial acts, city users, and other external rental equipment. Facility & Equipment Operations ?
Maintenance:
Coordinate the upkeep of facilities and technical equipment; submit requests to City Facilities Maintenance for repairs and after-hours climate control. ?
Inventory & Finance:
Assist in maintaining accurate equipment inventories and production consumables. ?
Budgeting:
Collaborate with division finance and fine arts staff to establish budgets, forecast revenues, and submit purchase requisitions. ?
Compliance:
Ensure all operations meet safety regulations and accessibility standards. Personnel & Scheduling ?
Supervision:
Assist in supervising the stage technical crew, including both instructional and professional staff. ?
Staffing:
Manage the comprehensive scheduling of events, as well as all hourly, short- term, and contracted support personnel. Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities ?
Technical Proficiency:
Electrical/wiring skills (stage pin/Edison connectors), lighting fixture maintenance, and programming of both lighting and sound boards. ?
Audio/Rigging:
Expert operation of digital/analog audio systems (including 48/24- channel digital consoles) and safe theatrical rigging practices. ?
Project Management:
Expertise in executing events from conception to completion within constricted time frames. ?
Soft Skills:
Strong conflict resolution, crisis management, and written/verbal communication skills. ?
Flexibility:
Ability to maintain a schedule that includes frequent evenings and weekends. Desirable Qualifications ?
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Theatre Production or Technical Theatre. ?
Technical Experience:
2 years operating ETC control boards, dimmers, and various lighting instruments. ? 2 years operating a counterweight fly system. ? 2 years with professional A/V equipment, preferably in large-scale venues. ?
Carpentry:
1 year of experience in theatrical carpentry within a professional or university shop.
Evaluation:
The Performing Arts Center Manager reports to and is evaluated by the Fine & Performing Arts Coordinator.
Contract Length:
200 days, 7-hour workday
