Job Description

Working/Functional Title Assistant Director of Football Creative Video Position Summary This position works with the Director of Digital and Brand Strategy and Director of Creative Video to produce video content that informs football recruits, student-athletes, alumni and supporters of the program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for college football, strong storytelling instincts, and proficiency in video editing software. This role also requires basic camera, lighting, and audio knowledge to support on-location shoots, including media day and other team productions. 75% Video Content Creation Brainstorm, film, and edit video content, including but not limited to game recaps, short-form social media videos, GIFs, student-athlete feature stories, etc. Filming of home and away games, practices, player and community outreach features, and other projects as needed. An emphasis will be placed on producing high-volume, eye-catching video content for @MSU_Football social media channels, especially on our key channels - Instagram, X Collaborate with the creative team and recruiting to ensure all content is produced efficiently and effectively, while implementing the organization's brand design look and feel to establish consistency across all platforms. Develop and pitch original video concepts that elevate creative standards, ensuring high-level execution that aligns with brand vision and strategic goals. Support the football creative video needs for recruiting, including filming visits and producing videos as requested by coaching and recruiting staff. Stay up to date with the latest trends in content creation, digital & social media, and sports. Seek out new tools and techniques to enhance content creation. 10% Assist with Intern Education & Leadership Provide guidance and assist interns during office hours, practices & games. 10% Asset & Equipment Management Maintain organized file & folder structure for all video content on shared platforms (local servers). Organize, log & melt all game footage shortly after each game. Assist with the rolling organization of archives from previous seasons to ensure searchability & efficient structure. Transport, set up, and operate various production equipment including cameras, audio, and lighting for location and studio productions 5% Other duties as assigned. Required Degree Bachelors Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in media production, communications, cinema & TV or related field AND one (1) year of work/intern experience in collegiate or professional athletics. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience creating short-form video content for social media platforms. Demonstrated proficiency with media software (Adobe Creative Suite - comparable alternative will be considered) Experience using DSLR and/or cinema cameras Experience using audio equipment (lav mics, boom mics, etc.) Digital asset management Multitasking and prioritizing assignments is critical for this position. Desired Qualifications One (1) year of working experience in a Division I football program or professional sports organization. Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects & ability to build motion graphics. Working knowledge of Blender (or similar program) & ability to build 3D assets. A working understanding of social media platforms & proven ability to create platform-specific content (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, etc) Strong communication and organization skills.
