AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union (BMU), and the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), the Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Operation Programs and Services (OPS), Sustainability and student government. Associated Students is now hiring for the position of Student Photographer/Videographer . This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session. The pay rate is $17.32 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico and maintain at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student) throughout the course of employment. Under the direction of the AS Marketing and Design Department (ASMD), this position is responsible for a broad range of visual production, pre- and post-production planning and execution, and professional collaboration. This position is project-based with inconsistent weekly scheduling. Work may be scheduled up to (but not exceeding) 12 hours per week.TYPICAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for digital SLR photography (event, product, and portrait) and cinematography, including pre-production, production, and post-production processes. Processes photos, including image manipulation and archive images, and maintains photography equipment and digital archives. Captures and files photography documentation and meta data in digital archives. Produces short videos to market different organization and program efforts, including pre-production storyboarding, production, and post-production editing. Works independently with clients and ASMD staff to determine needs and plan production timelines. Works with the ASMD team to collaborate and develop video promotions for the Associated Students (AS) social media channels. Works to capture and create visuals that align with the AS branding strategy. Other duties may be assigned. This position is event-driven and working hours will vary based on departmental needs. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers and fax. When necessary, employee must be able to lift packages up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position will work 15-20 hours per week. Applicants interested in this role MUST be available for mandatory training in Chico beginning Monday, August 10. Training will be Monday-Friday August 10-21.EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge of:
A general understanding of photographic and cinematic composition. A general understanding of shooting videos (horizontal & vertical) and basic knowledge of proper lighting, audio quality, frame rates and composition. Familiarity with operating digital SLR and HD cameras. Novice or better knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro, Adobe Premier Pro and other rendering tools. Experience with Adobe Bridge a plus.Ability to:
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Develop and produce quality visuals. Use computer and applicable software for post-production tasks. Work independently, sometimes with minimal supervision. Multitask, working on several projects simultaneously. Work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. Write minimal copy with excellent grammar and punctuation.Education:
Currently enrolled in 6 units for undergraduate or 4 units for graduate at California State University, Chico required.Special Requirements:
