About Peninsula Family Service Peninsula Family Service is a nonprofit organization that provides children, families, and older adults with the support and tools they need to realize their full potential. As one of the largest providers of infant, toddler, and preschool programs in the region, PFS also delivers services in financial empowerment, employment, and older adult support. Established in 1950, PFS has been a trusted community partner for over 75 years, dedicated to fostering stability, resilience, and well-being for the individuals and families it serves. Position Overview PFS is looking for a contract photographer with experience working in nonprofit, community, education, or social impact settings. This individual will capture compelling, authentic imagery for use across marketing materials, donor communications, annual reports, social media, campaigns, website content, events, and fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate understands how to photograph diverse communities with warmth, dignity, and professionalism — especially children, families, older adults, and community partners. Preference will be given to photographers based on the San Francisco Peninsula or greater Bay Area. Responsibilities Photograph PFS events, programs, community activities, and fundraising initiatives Capture branded lifestyle imagery for marketing and donor communications Coordinate and manage photoshoots involving children, families, older adults, staff, and volunteers Help identify visually compelling storytelling opportunities across programs Ensure photography aligns with organizational brand standards and messaging Organize and deliver edited, high-resolution photo assets in a timely manner Support photo release coordination and sensitivity around photographing vulnerable populations Occasionally attend evening or weekend events Qualifications Proven experience as a nonprofit, editorial, event, or brand photographer Strong portfolio demonstrating candid storytelling and community-centered photography Experience photographing children and families preferred Ability to direct subjects naturally and create comfortable environments during shoots Understanding of nonprofit storytelling and donor-facing communications Strong editing and photo management skills Professional, collaborative, and mission-driven approach Bay Area based; Peninsula-based photographers strongly preferred Preferred Experience Experience working with schools, nonprofits, community organizations, or human services agencies Familiarity with photographing multicultural and intergenerational communities Experience supporting fundraising campaigns or annual reports Knowledge of consent and photo release best practices involving minors Engagement Details Contract / freelance position Flexible schedule based on organizational needs Combination of planned shoots and event coverage Hourly or project-based compensation DOE To Apply Please submit: Portfolio or website Resume or brief background summary Rates and availability Relevant nonprofit or community-based work examples Please submit to Koren Temple-Perry at ktemple-perry@pfso.org
