Scherling PhotographySeasonal School Photographer
- Join a Legacy of Smiles (K-12)Scherling Photography | Over 105 Years of Capturing Moments That Matter At Scherling Photography, we believe every student deserves to be remembered—and remembered well.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and operating Scherling-provided cameras, lighting, and backdrops.
- Guiding students through individual and group poses to capture natural, high-quality images.
- Creating a warm, positive atmosphere that helps students feel comfortable and confident.
- Maintaining an efficient schedule while adapting to each school's unique needs.
- Representing Scherling professionally while traveling throughout the Northeast region.
- Assisting with sports team photography, graduation photography, and occasional special events. No editing or post-production is required. Our photographers focus on creating exceptional images while our production team handles the rest. Schedule Expectations
- Seasonal employment from August through mid-Spring .
- Typical schedule of 2-5 photo days per week during peak season.
- Peak season is fall and spring months
- Most assignments are weekday mornings and early afternoons.
- Some evening and weekend assignments are available for sports photography and special events.
- Early morning start times are common.
- Flexible scheduling based on your availability and our school calendar.

Our compensation includes:
- $250 per full photography day .
- $25.00 per hour for retake days, sports photography, and other hourly assignments.
- Travel time paid at $22.50 per hour.
- Mileage reimbursement at the current federal IRS rate for eligible travel.
- Overnight lodging provided when overnight travel is required.
- Paid training.
- Professional camera equipment, lighting, and backgrounds provided.

- Travel throughout the Northeast region.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required.

- Available to work consistently from August through mid-November.
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable working with children of all ages.

- Ability to lift and carry approximately 40 pounds of photography equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
- Comfortable traveling throughout the Northeast.
- Basic technology skills.
- Photography experience is welcomed but not required —we provide comprehensive training.
- Return each school photography season.
- Advance into Lead Photographer positions.
- Transition into year-round part-time or full-time opportunities.
- Assist with training and mentoring new photographers.
