Job Description

Position Overview The Trenton Ironhawks are seeking a creative and dependable Photography/Videography Intern to assist with capturing and producing visual content throughout the hockey season. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports photography, videography, digital content production, and game-day operations. The intern will work with Director of Digital Media, Communications, and Broadcasting to document games, practices, community appearances, promotional events, and behind-the-scenes team activities. The ideal candidate has a strong visual eye, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is interested in building a professional sports media portfolio. Responsibilities Photograph and record home games, practices, community events, promotional appearances, and other team activities. Capture game action, fan engagement, entertainment elements, merchandise, sponsors, and behind-the-scenes content. Assist with creating short-form video content for social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X. Edit photographs and video footage for digital, social media, marketing, and promotional use. Organize, label, and maintain the team's photo and video library. Assist with player headshots, promotional shoots, interviews, and special content projects. Collaborate with marketing, social media, game presentation, merchandise, and community relations staff to fulfill content needs. Help ensure visual content is consistent with the Trenton Ironhawks' brand standards. Prepare and deliver content within established deadlines, including during and immediately following games and events. Follow all arena, team, and league policies while working around players, staff, fans, and restricted areas. Perform other photography, videography, and game-day duties as assigned. Qualifications Current college student or recent graduate pursuing photography, videography, film, digital media, communications, marketing, or a related field. Basic experience operating DSLR, mirrorless, or professional video cameras. Familiarity with photo and video editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or similar programs. Strong understanding of composition, lighting, framing, and visual storytelling. Ability to capture fast-moving action in a live sports environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Dependable, professional, and able to meet deadlines. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Knowledge of hockey or previous sports photography experience is helpful but not required. Portfolio Requirement Applicants should submit a portfolio or examples of previous design work demonstrating creativity, technical ability, and an understanding of visual communication. Student, volunteer, freelance, and personal projects are welcome. Equipment Candidates should indicate whether they have access to their own photography or videography equipment. Access to personal equipment is preferred but may not be required, depending on team resources and assignment needs. Schedule and Availability Must be available for Trenton Ironhawks home games and selected team events. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability will be required. Additional hours may include practices, community appearances, promotional shoots, and special events. The internship schedule may vary based on the team's game and event calendar. 20+ hours per week. May vary if earning academic credit. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the arena for extended periods. Ability to carry and operate photography and video equipment. Ability to work in cold, crowded, noisy, and fast-paced arena environments. Ability to position equipment and move safely through designated game-day areas. Internship Experience This internship is designed to provide practical experience in professional sports media production. The intern will have opportunities to: Build a photography and videography portfolio. Gain experience capturing live sporting events. Develop content for a professional sports organization. Learn sports marketing, branding, and game-day content workflows. Receive feedback and guidance from members of the Trenton Ironhawks staff.
