Job Description:

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an instructor to teach VIS 231 Visual Journalism on Fridays 12:45pm-3:30pm during the Fall 2026 semester (3 credits).

Course Description:

Students gain a real-world understanding of the building blocks of telling compelling visual stories in both video and still photography by learning foundational principles and skills for visual journalism. The course covers camera fundamentals, visual composition, exposure, framing, lighting, audio, and post-production. Students develop critical thinking and ethical awareness as they produce multimedia content integrating both photography and video storytelling for journalistic contexts.
