Manager Computer Operations/Document Production and Delivery (Second Shift) Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama United States, Alabama, Birmingham May 19, 2026 Overview Department Overview Technology Support applies technology to streamline and continuously improve our business processes. This division supports a wide range of functions including computer systems, software applications, databases, corporate web servers, local area networks, wide area networks, information security and audio visual equipment. Primary Responsibilities The incumbent manages nightly activities relating to the operation of centralized data processing equipment and peripheral information systems equipment at the Riverchase Data Center. Establishes detailed schedules for the utilization of all production equipment in the computer operations section to obtain maximum utilization. Assigns personnel to various operations and directs their activities. Reviews and evaluates production workloads to best meet Business Partners mailing expectations. Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. Consults with personnel in other information systems sections to coordinate activities. Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the computer operations production areas to assure required timely and accurate processing is maintained through utilization of mainframe hardware and computer support on the equipment to ensure system availability and efficiency is maximized. The incumbent supervises nightly mailroom activities including receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail and collecting and processing outgoing mail. The incumbent maintains related equipment and records and prepares purchase orders for necessary supplies. This position is responsible for overseeing the nightly mailroom staff and requires in-depth knowledge of postal regulations. Summary of Qualifications Bachelor's Degree
In-depth knowledge of and at least 3 years of experience in a technology related field, and an in-depth knowledge and appropriate combination of the following fields: computer operations mainframe environment, high volume mainframe print and mail production environments
Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective group working relationships to reduce barriers in meeting area Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Experience in a position demonstrating effective communication skills
Strong mechanical skills and/or experience using diverse machine equipment
Willingness to be on-call during weekends and holidays
Management and/or supervisory experience preferred
Information Technology (IT) certification preferred Work Location The work schedule for this position will be full time onsite.
Shift Requirement:
Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with on-call rotation for select weekends and designated holidays.
