Job Description
News Producer
Want to help decide what leads the news every day? Action News , the CBS and NBC affiliate serving Northern California, is looking for a Dayside News Producer who can think fast, write well and help build a newscast people actually want to watch.
You'll be in the middle of the newsroom, working with reporters, anchors, photogrs and the digital team to decide what we cover, how we cover it and how we tell those stories on television.
On any given day, that could mean covering a wildfire, a major crime story, a heated city council meeting, or a great local story nobody else has found yet.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Produce and write daily newscasts
Decide which stories make the show, and w they belong
Write concise, conversational broadcast copy
Work with reporters and other producers to develop stories
Find the local impact of major state and national news
Choose video, sound and graphics that make stories better
React quickly when breaking news blows up the rundown
Coordinate with anchors and the production team during live newscasts
make sure our coverage is accurate, fair andpelling
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You don't need decades of television experience. You do need to care about news.
We're looking for someone who is curious, creative andanized, with strong writing skills and good instincts about what matters to our viewrs and ourmunity.
You should be able to make decisions, meet deadlines and stay calm when the plan changes five minutes before air.
Previous newsroom or producing experience is a plus, but we're also interested in recent journalism ormunications graduates ready to start building a career in television news.
