A Producer plans and coordinates elements needed to create a film, television show, theater production, musical production or radio show. Works with writers, composers and artistic directors to develop ideas and scripts; oversees rehearsals or production schedule and budget; recruits financing to support production and marketing costs; negotiates distribution agreements. May also work on television or radio advertisements.
Full-Time (40-45 hours per week), Salaried Big Valley Grace Community Church worships every weekend in multi-generational gatherings, connects in authentic community, grows in obedience to God s Word, serves others with our God-given talents, and reaches local and global communities with the love of Jesus.
THE POSITION
The Production Manager (PM) oversees all video, audio, lighting, and staging systems for 1) weekend gatherings at BVG church campus, 2) special projects, and 3) Worship & Production (W&P) Ministry events, both live and recorded. The successful PM has a well-rounded understanding of all areas of Production Ministry and manages production staff and volunteers, helping each person take next steps in their area of skill/service and in their walk with Christ. The ideal candidate will be a vibrant leader among staff and the church body, contributing to the church s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Pastor of Weekend Gatherings, the PM is actively engaged in production of weekend gatherings on the main campus and participates in the planning process of the W&P Department. The PM oversees the annual production budget and various special project budgets. The PM maintains quality Production spaces, equipment, and supplies and oversees system repairs, maintaining detailed records.
Video Production:
Works closely with W&P leadership and video volunteer teams to produce and/or employ high quality and professional video content for all weekend worship gatherings Oversees all audio mixing including FOH mix, in ear mix and broadcast audio mix (live stream) Oversees video switching, camera operating, ProPresenter, graphics, lyrics, sermon slides, live streaming and necessary post-production related to weekend worship gatherings (i.e. uploading sermon videos to our server) Schedules and coordinates the video production volunteer teams using Planning Center Services, Microsoft Teams and other tools as needed Manages the live stream of gatherings, including monitoring the encoder, encoder scheduling and onsite internet connection to ensure stable and reliable broadcasts Provides oversight to all pre- and post-production video projects intended for use in the weekend worship gatherings and/or W&P Ministry. This includes working with contracted video professionals for special projects Assists various church ministries with special video projects as schedule permits
Audio Production:
Works closely with W&P leadership and audio volunteer teams to produce and/or employ high quality and professional mixes for all weekend gatherings Oversees all audio mixing including FOH mix, in ear mix and broadcast audio mix (live stream) Oversees any necessary audio post-production (i.e. editing audio for podcasts, sermons) Oversees PA, stage racks and any other audio-related components utilized during weekend worship gatherings on all campuses Assists Pastor of Worship with layout and cable management on stage Schedules and coordinates the audio production volunteer team utilizing Planning Center Services, Microsoft Teams and other tools as needed
Lighting:
Works closely with W&P leadership and volunteer operators to design and produce high quality and professional stage and theatrical lighting for all weekend worship gatherings Oversees any necessary lighting pre-production (i.e. syncing design with other media elements in QLab) Oversees lighting instruments, racks, dimmers and other stage and theatrical lighting Works alongside Pastor of Weekend Gatherings to ensure that lighting design aligns with ministry philosophy and direction Schedules and coordinates the lighting production volunteer team utilizing Planning Center Services, Microsoft Teams and other tools as needed
Staging:
Works closely with W&P leadership and volunteer set designers to design and construct high quality and professional set designs for all weekend worship gatherings Oversees set design and any necessary construction projects Works alongside Pastor of W&P and Pastor of Worship to ensure that staging and set designs align with ministry philosophy and direction Schedules and coordinates the staging volunteer team utilizing Planning Center Services, Microsoft Teams and other tools as needed
Campus Production:
Provides direct oversight to and maintains strong relationships with Campus Production Coordinators (video, audio, lighting and staging) Has a regular presence on all campuses Ensures consistency in operation and workflow across all campus systems and event schedules
Volunteer Care and Development:
Oversees the shepherding and care of the Production volunteer community with assistance of the Pastor of W&P and other production staff members Oversees the coaching of Production volunteers and provides constructive feedback on a regular basis Oversees recruiting, auditioning, and development of volunteer Production Ministry teams Works with Pastor of W&P and other production staff on a sustainable process for recruiting, auditioning, and developing volunteer Production system teams
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience working in production (video, audio and lighting) Thorough knowledge of all major areas of production Experience working in a church is highly desirable
