Multiplatform producerLee Enterprises | Quad-City Times (Davenport, Iowa)Lee Enterprises is seeking a detail-oriented digital producer-copy editor to support the Quad-City Times and assist coverage across additional Lee newsrooms in central Illinois, helping deliver accurate, engaging journalism to readers across the region.

This role is central to ensuring our journalism is clean, timely and compelling across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong editor who thrives under deadline pressure, values accuracy and fairness and understands how digital presentation, audience habits and strong storytelling work together to grow readership and engagement in a competitive local news environment.

WHAT YOU'LL

DOEditing and productionEdit local news, feature and sports stories for accuracy, clarity, fairness and Associated Press styleWrite sharp, engaging headlines, decks and captions optimized for digital audiences and subscriber valueEnsure stories meet newsroom standards for tone, readability and factual accuracyCoordinate with reporters on breaking news and evening coverage, exercising strong news judgment to prioritize and advance stories in real timeDigital publishingPublish and package content in the Blox CMS with attention to SEO, digital presentation and audience engagementOptimize stories for web, mobile, newsletters and social platformsHelp ensure breaking news and developing coverage across the Quad-Cities and central Illinois markets is published quickly, accurately and updated as information evolvesUse analytics and audience insights to strengthen story presentation and reader reachWorkflow coordinationPlan, proof and finalize print pages under deadline pressure, including assisting with sports page productionCoordinate with the Lee Design Center to ensure smooth production workflows and high presentation standardsMaintain consistent quality and workflow standards across the Quad-City Times and partner newsroomsCollaborationWork closely with editors, reporters, designers and other producers across multiple markets to move stories quickly and cleanly to publicationSupport a collaborative, reader-first newsroom culture focused on urgency, responsiveness and strong local journalismWhat we're looking forStrong editing and copywriting skills with exceptional attention to detailThorough knowledge of Associated Press style and newsroom standardsAbility to balance speed, accuracy and editorial judgment in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity with CMS tools, digital publishing workflows and SEO best practicesUnderstanding of digital audience behavior and engagement strategiesStrong organizational and communication skillsPassion for local journalism that informs, connects and serves regional communitiesLocationThis position is based in the Quad-Cities region (Davenport, Iowa.)
