PRODUCTION MANAGER

Elmwood Park, New Jersey About Boogie Bakery Our mission is simple. We want to bring real artisan sourdough to as many people as possible. We believe great bread doesn't need unnecessary ingredients. That's why our products are made using 100% sourdough, only three ingredients, and a sustainable production philosophy. Through our proprietary precision fermentation technology, Boogie Bakery has made it possible to scale authentic sourdough production without compromising quality. We're now bringing that innovation to the United States and are looking for an experienced Production Manager to help launch our new state-of-the-art bakery manufacturing facility and build our U.S. production operation from the ground up. Job Description The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the production floor. This role involves managing production schedules, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, optimizing workflow efficiency, and leading production teams to meet operational goals. This is an opportunity to join the production team during the launch of a new state-of-the-art bakery production facility and help establish efficient production processes, systems, and best practices from the ground up. The Production Manager will also maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic work environment while driving continuous improvement in productivity and performance. This role requires an active, hands-on approach to overseeing operations and supporting the production team. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement production plans aligned with company goals and customer demand. Monitor and adjust production schedules to meet delivery deadlines while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Lead, motivate, and train production staff to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve team productivity and performance. Implement and enforce quality assurance processes throughout all stages of production. Maintain strict quality control standards to ensure consistent, high-quality products. Coordinate equipment maintenance schedules to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime. Monitor raw material inventory levels and collaborate with procurement to maintain adequate stock levels. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with regulatory requirements. Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate workplace hazards while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Identify inefficiencies in production processes and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste. Supervisory Responsibilities The Production Manager supervises and manages production staff and is responsible for employee selection, training, development, and performance evaluations. This role participates in decisions related to hiring, disciplinary actions, promotions, and task assignments in coordination with HR and management. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience 4+ years of leadership experience in food manufacturing, bakery production, or a related manufacturing environment preferred. Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to build, train, and motivate high-performing teams. Proficiency in production planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control. Strong understanding of automated bakery production systems, equipment, and quality standards. Strong understanding of the full production process, with the ability to provide hands-on operational support across production functions when needed. Ability to adapt to and work within technology-driven and automated production processes. Knowledge of food safety standards, including HACCP and FDA regulations. Familiarity with workplace safety regulations and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Ability to analyse production issues, identify inefficiencies, and implement effective process improvements. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and lead by example. High level of self-discipline and accountability. Schedule Full-time position. Schedule will be based on production needs. This role requires flexibility to support production operations, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed. Physical Requirements This position requires regular presence on the production floor in a bakery manufacturing environment. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods and moving throughout production, packaging, storage, and warehouse areas. Occasional lifting or moving of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds is required. The work environment includes exposure to varying temperatures, including hot production areas near ovens and cold storage/freezer areas. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
USD 95,000-110,000
