Job Description

WHAM is seeking an Associate Producer to assist with an contribute to the station's five hours of news on both 13WHAM and WUHF weekday mornings. The candidate must have strong writing and news judgment skills. Working well in a fast-paced environment is essential. This position requires education in journalism or mass communications with previous television experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Writing copy for newscasts
  • Editing video for online posts.
  • Posting stories online and to social media
  • Operating teleprompter during newscasts
  • Assisting Producers with finding stories
  • Assisting with other editorial and general newsroom duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to write quality broadcast news copy under tight deadlines
  • You must have strong writing and news judgment skills
  • A 4-year degree in Journalism or Mass Communications
  • Available to work five weekday mornings, as early as 4:30 a.m., including some holidays
  • Helping in-studio guests of morning show to get on and off air, hosting and answer questions.
The base hourly compensation range for this role is $17.00 to $17.60 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This is a Part-time position. Full-time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
