Job Description
What This Job Actually Is We're a growing residential painting company looking for an Operations Manager who can take ownership of day-to-day production . This is a hands-on, field-based role. You will not be sitting behind a desk all day. You'll be visiting job sites, managing crews, solving problems, keeping schedules moving, and making sure customers have a smooth experience.
The main goal is simple:
Jobs need to start on time, stay on track, meet quality standards, and finish properly. Right now, the owner is heavily involved in production. We're looking for someone who can step in, take control of the daily operations, and help the business grow without things breaking. What You'll Be Responsible For Managing 2-5 painting crews across multiple residential job sites Building and adjusting daily and weekly production schedules Visiting job sites to check progress, quality, and crew performance Making sure crews show up prepared and on time Confirming materials, colors, scopes, and job details are ready before work starts Solving real-time problems such as delays, callouts, change orders, weather issues, customer concerns, and crew performance issues Holding crews accountable to quality, timelines, cleanliness, and professionalism Communicating with customers when needed Sending updates to the owner and internal team Making sure jobs are completed on schedule and to company standards Reviewing job progress, completion details, and any open punch-list items Helping improve systems, processes, and production flow over time What Success Looks Like You are successful in this role when: Jobs start when they are supposed to Crews know where to go and what to do Job sites are clean, organized, and professional Customers feel communicated with and taken care of Quality issues are caught before the customer catches them Projects are completed on time and at standard Crews are held accountable without constant drama The owner does not have to be involved in every production issue Production feels organized instead of reactive Who This Is a Great Fit For This role is a strong fit if: You have managed field crews, trades, or job sites before You are comfortable being in the field most days You can keep multiple jobs moving at once You know how to hold people accountable without losing control You are organized, direct, and calm under pressure You can solve problems quickly instead of overthinking them You can communicate professionally with homeowners and crews You are comfortable dealing with conflict when needed You like building systems, not just reacting to problems You want to grow with a company that is scaling Experience We're Looking For Strong candidates may come from backgrounds such as: Residential painting production Construction project management Field operations management Remodeling or home services Crew management Trade supervision Service business operations Painting experience is a major plus, but the most important thing is that you understand how to manage crews, schedules, job sites, customers, and quality in a field-based environment.
