Job Description

About NC Tweener Fund NC Tweener Fund (powered by NC IDEA) is an early-stage venture fund that invests in and supports the most promising Tweener companies across North Carolina — startups that have outgrown their first check but haven't yet reached growth-stage funding. We sit at the intersection of capital, community, and content. About the role We're looking for a driven, creative, and organized operator to own the day-to-day programming, content, and community operations of the fund. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role that touches everything from podcast production and newsletter writing to flagship event planning and strategic partnership execution. You'll work closely with the founding team (Scot Wingo and Robbie Allen) to tell the story of the NC startup ecosystem, support our portfolio companies, and build the operational infrastructure that makes Tweener run. This role is Triangle-based and hybrid — in-office for events, podcast tapings, and team time, plus async work-from-anywhere for writing and ops blocks. If you're not in the Triangle, you'd need to relocate at your own expense. Applicants must have permanent US work authorization (no visa sponsorship). No recruiters. What you'll own
  • Podcast production & distribution (~25%): Own the full weekly Tweener Talks podcast pipeline — scheduling/prepping guests, managing recording sessions, editing, publishing to Transistor, distributing across YouTube, LinkedIn, and Substack, and cutting short-form clips for social.
  • Content creation & social media (~20%): Help write and publish the bi-weekly TweenerTimes Substack newsletter, including the recurring podcast post and the What I Read This Week (WIRTW) column. Write bi-weekly Founder Spotlight articles. Run a structured weekly LinkedIn content calendar.
  • Event planning & execution (~18%): Plan and execute quarterly flagship events including Tweener Night and LP/CEO happy hours. Lead Tweener Madness startup competition end-to-end. Support co-produced events like Raleigh-Durham Startup Week (RDSW).
  • Portfolio & community management (~18%): Maintain the Tweener Community Hub on Coda — portfolio profiles, advisor pages, job board, talent center. Compile data for the annual Tweener Awards across 20+ companies.
  • Stakeholder communications (~10%): Support quarterly LP meetings, sponsor relationships, and partnership comms.
  • Strategic projects & brand (~5%): Brand projects, partnership rollouts, and future programming.
  • Operations & administration (~5%): Calendar, Slack monitoring, invoices, and event budget tracking. You'll thrive in this role if you
  • Love variety and multi-tasking and can shift fluidly between writing, coordinating, and database work.
  • Are energized by the startup and venture ecosystem.
  • Take pride in the details — from Substack links to pixel-perfect bracket graphics.
  • Are comfortable on a small, fast-moving team where everyone wears multiple hats.
  • See yourself as a builder of systems, content, and community infrastructure. Minimum qualifications
  • 2+ years in a content, community, program, or operations role — ideally somewhere fast and small (startup, agency, accelerator, fund, media brand).
  • Strong writing chops — newsletters, recaps, announcements, social posts.
  • Comfort running events end-to-end, including 100+ person flagship gatherings.
  • Working knowledge of podcast production (recording, editing, publishing, distributing) — or the demonstrated ability to learn it fast.
  • Calm, organized project management across many parallel threads. Nice to have
  • Hands-on experience with Substack, Transistor (or similar), Coda, AngelList, Slack, and standard social tools (LinkedIn, X, YouTube).
  • Existing relationships in the NC/Triangle startup ecosystem.
  • A portfolio — a newsletter, podcast, event, or community you built and ran.
  • Curiosity about venture capital and rolling fund mechanics.
  • Light video editing for short-form clips, plus design instincts (Canva/Figma).
How we work Small team, fast cadence, public reps. We publish newsletters, podcasts, founder spotlights, and event recaps every week. We default to hybrid in the Triangle. We use Coda, Substack, Transistor, AngelList, Slack, and Google Workspace. Robbie and Scot are 100% committed to the fund and to each person on the team — you'll have a direct line to both. To apply, send your resume and a few links to things you've shipped — newsletters, podcasts, events, communities, anything you built and ran. We read everything.
