Production Manager The Production Manager is responsible for managing all theatrical productions and events to produce high-quality productions with youth performers and is a key staff position at Broadway Bound. This position also includes certain facility management responsibilities related to Magnuson Park Theater. Broadway Bound's mission in providing performing arts opportunities with all interested youth participants creates a unique programming and production structure. The Production Manager focuses on how best to support all production-related departments for mainstage productions, presentations and workshops, fundraising events, and co-productions. Overview of Responsibilities Create production schedules, budgets, and staffing plans for each production and/or event(s), taking into account variable cast sizes and quantities, school calendars, and weather-related challenges Develop and maintain records of all expenses related to productions Schedule and lead production meetings for mainstage productions and BBCT events Keep productions on track to meet artistic quality objectives, budgetary constraints, and scheduling deadlines Facilitate open communication across all departments, taking care to prioritize the organization's mission and needs of the production Engage in creative problem-solving with all production departments to best support the artistic vision of directors and designers while keeping the production within budget and meeting all safety and scheduling requirements Provide safety information and instruct staff and participants as needed Coordinate the delivery of all production elements, including sets, props, costumes, audio, and lighting equipment to and from the performance venue each rental period Attend all tech and dress rehearsals and performances as the emergency point of contact With the Artistic Director, create staffing plans for productions aligned with organizational needs and available financial resources Recruit and hire artists and technicians for each production and event(s) including directors, choreographers, music directors, stage managers, designers, and technicians/engineers Instill a culture of collaboration across BBCT to ensure a smooth production process Develop and engage in plans to ensure cleanliness and order of the theater house, stage, backstage, green room, dressing room, compostable toilet, mezzanine, and balcony and that they are in good working and safe conditions Have a basic understanding and ability to operate A/V equipment and software including a digital audio board, wireless mic systems, tech intercoms, ETC lighting console, LED and traditional lighting instruments and cabling, QLab, and projectors. Serve as the point of contact for production item rentals and leases. This includes rentals of BBCT property to other parties and what BBCT rents from vendors. Work with department heads to accomplish and maintain order and cleanliness in all rehearsal and performance spaces, workshops, and storage areas Manage equipment maintenance and safety systems for all rehearsal and performance spaces Qualifications Bachelor's degree in production or stage management or equivalent work experience Understanding of all performance and production elements related to musical theatre Working knowledge of various tech platforms, including Google Drive, Airtable, Dropbox, etc. Ability to stay organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and multitask Exceptional communication skills and is dedicated to building an inclusive, respectful, and positive work environment Demonstrate responsible autonomy with regard to completing tasks as well as working in a team setting Previous involvement in education and/or youth development and the ability to work effectively with youth performers and technicians preferred Desired Personal Attributes While much of the Production Manager's day-to-day focus is centered on the logistical requirements in mounting productions, there is a significant portion of responsibilities that center on creating an open and inclusive space for artists, participants, and audiences. The ideal candidate for Production Manager will possess the following attributes: a natural rapport with young people that stems from genuine enjoyment of interacting with others accessible and approachable demeanor that inspires openness to varied ideas, viewpoints, and concerns of staff resourcefulness in innovating opportunities and solving challenges capacity for sound decision-making a sense of humor Additional Information The main office and rehearsal studios are located in the historic University Heights Center in Seattle's UDistrict. Studios are available for large groups and production meetings. Other organizations share the building and BBCT is located on the top floor with studios at the south end of the building and the office in the center of the building. There is no designated workstation in the office; instead, a shared staff computer is available in another room on campus. Some work may be done off-site with prior planning and open communication and is contingent on performance and demonstrated strong work ethic. Due to the changing nature of theatre schedules, BBCT is looking for someone who can work 15 to 30 hours each week, with potentially up to 50 hours during the tech period leading up to performances. Hours are determined by institutional need with at least two weeks planned in advance and discussions with leadership if fewer or more hours are needed.
