Proceed Legal is the premier provider of appellate legal support services in the New York area and across the nation. We've enjoyed steady growth and built a solid team through extensive training and professionalism to ensure our success and the long-term success of our team members. We are now seeking the right individual to join us for long-term employment, opportunity, responsibility, and promotion. Proceed Legal is a nationwide legal services provider that assists over 1500 attorneys with the successful filing and service of over 12000 appeals annually. Our New York office is seeking the right individual to train as our newest proofreader alongside an established team. The primary service provided to our attorney clients in our New York office is the rule compliant filing of appellate briefs and records in state and federal appellate courts across the United States. Direct experience with appellate legal work is not essential but can be helpful. It is necessary to demonstrate long-term interest in the position as well as the capacity to meet the requirements of the position through experience and a willingness to be trained. The successful candidate will excel in our process driven environment by possessing great attention to detail. You will work closely with our staff paralegals and production teams to ensure our clients' successful filings. You must demonstrate the ability to follow directions and adhere to our processes while working as part of a team in order to best serve our clients' needs. Our clients rely on Proceed Legal for very important assistance, and we will train you to become an expert in meeting their needs. Your Qualifications:
- Experience in a fast-paced legal environment
- Familiarity with basic legal documents
- Demonstrate great attention to detail at all levels
- Compare documents (redline)
- Table of Contents, Table of Authorities
- Proofread and page numbering
- Clear, effective communication
- Ability to master the rules of courts we work within over time
- Ability to work closely with our team of staff attorneys, legal assistants/paralegals, and production staff
- Ability to multi-task and successfully manage a variety of demands each day
- Ability to rapidly learn a task and master it soon after
- Computer experience. MS Word 2007 a MUST.
- Ability to be a highly contributing part of the team on a daily basis
Areas of Primary Responsibility:
- Perform proofreading duties in the preparation of our clients' appellate documents (See qualifications).
- Communicate with our staff paralegals to prepare active projects.
