Independent Contractor (1099) About the Role We're looking for a detail-oriented Transcription Specialist to join our annotation team on-site in Phoenix. You'll listen to English-language audio and correct the corresponding speech-to-text transcript according to the project SOP. You'll also help track and report Word Error Rate (WER) as part of the quality process. Responsibilities Listen to audio recordings and correct the auto-generated speech-to-text transcript per the project SOP Track and report Word Error Rate (WER) and related quality metrics for assigned transcripts Apply formatting, punctuation, and style conventions consistently per SOP Flag unclear audio, ambiguous phrasing, or SOP gaps to the project lead Meet daily/weekly throughput and accuracy targets Participate in calibration sessions and apply updated SOP guidance promptly Maintain confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive audio/data Requirements Ability to work on-site in Phoenix, AZ for 3 days a week Excellent listening comprehension and strong written English (grammar, spelling, punctuation) Strong attention to detail and consistency in following a defined SOP Comfortable working with audio playback and annotation/transcription software Basic comfort with tracking/reporting metrics (e.g., WER) in a spreadsheet or tool Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a full 40-hour work week Prior transcription, captioning, or QA experience a plus but not required Contract Details This is a 1099 independent contractor position
