Job Description

Role Summary The primary responsibility of this contract position is to edit, proof, and review copy for Direct Response materials, including English, Spanish-language, and bilingual executions. This role supports fundraising initiatives by ensuring accuracy, clarity, cultural relevance, and adherence to brand and voice standards across print and digital channels. The position requires fluency in both Spanish and English, along with strong proficiency in bilingual copy editing and transcreation review.
Essential Job Functions Bilingual Copy Editing:
Use thorough knowledge of English and Spanish grammar, punctuation, and spelling to edit and proof donor communications tailored to specific programs and audiences.
Cultural Relevance & Tone:
Review and edit Spanish-language and bilingual copy to ensure cultural relevance, a donor-centric tone, accuracy, and alignment with campaign strategy.
Transcreation Review:
Support the transcreation of approved English copy into Spanish, applying localization best practices rather than direct word-for-word translation.
Cross-Functional Partnership:
Partner with Direct Response, Marketing, and Internal Teams to ensure organizational accuracy and brand compliance.
Version Control:
Track, incorporate, and verify changes through multiple approval stages, ensuring no new errors are introduced during revisions.
Data Verification:
Ensure the complete accuracy of names, dates, legal language, phone numbers, URLs, and other required details across all assigned materials.
Deadline Management:
Maintain strict attention to detail and composure while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
Style Guide Compliance:
Adhere to brand voice, AP style, and internal style guidelines across all English, Spanish, and bilingual content.
Campaign & Operational Support:
Support Direct Response and Multicultural Marketing initiatives. Assist with business continuity tasks as assigned in accordance with organizational guidelines.
Knowledge & Requirements Language Fluency:
Native-level or professional fluency in both Spanish and English (written and verbal).
Editorial Skills:
Strong proofreading and copy-editing skills, with a high degree of concentration and attention to written detail under deadline pressure.
Marketing Insight:
Deep understanding of transcreation principles and familiarity with direct response, marketing, or fundraising content.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency working within Microsoft Word and Excel, specifically utilizing tracked changes and managing complex approval workflows.
