Minimum Qualifications Technical Proficiency:
At least 1-2 years of experience in live sports production, broadcast journalism, or a related technical field (e.g., AV setup, live streaming).
Specialized Skillset:
Proven ability to perform in the following key area:
Production:
Operation of professional-grade broadcast cameras (e.g., Sony, Panasonic) and knowledge of signal flow (SDI, HDMI, XLR).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of broadcast equipment and stand for the duration of a standard athletic event (approx. 3-5 hours).
Schedule Reliability:
Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work consistent nights, weekends, and occasional holidays in alignment with the [Athletics Department] game schedule.
Professional Communication:
Demonstrated ability to take rapid-fire direction via an intercom headset (IFB) in a high-pressure, live-event environment. Desired Qualifications ESPN+
Standards:
Previous experience working on productions that meet ESPN+ or similar Division I digital/linear broadcast standards.
System Knowledge:
Experience with specific production hardware/software such as: NewTek Tricaster or Ross Video switchers. ScoreVision or similar jumbotron/in-game entertainment software. DVSport or similar instant replay systems.
Athletic Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of NCAA rules and game-flow for multiple sports (specifically Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Baseball/Softball).
Local Proximity:
Resides within a 50-mile radius of Rochester, MI, to accommodate short-notice "break-fix" or "fill-in" opportunities.
