The editor will help us tell compelling, high-impact stories on multiple platforms, with a special focus on audio storytelling for broadcast and podcasts. Our work meets the highest editorial and audio-production standards. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about local news, cares deeply about the people and communities in the Deep South, and loves the craft of audio journalism. To report features on their beat. To develop a robust source list and stay on top of breaking news. To stay in touch with NPR editors about upcoming coverage. To regularly produce series and long-form stories. To provide editing support to stations when local newsroom leaders are out. To provide training on recording, writing for radio and mixing for team members. To assist reporters with data journalism and investigations. To do audio mixing for longform projects or series. To pitch local stories to editors at NPR and other national programs. To run a monthly listening group to help reporters learn new techniques and sharpen skills.Salary Range:
$57,940 - $94,150 Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
