Job Description
KSBY, the E.W. Scripps NBC station in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California, is looking for a creative, driven and community-focused Multimedia Journalist to join our North Santa Barbara County team. If you are passionate about telling impactful stories that engage people across broadcast, digital, and social platforms, this is a chance to bring your talent to a station that is committed to public service journalism. As a beat reporter, you'll cover towns and cities along California's stunning Central Coast - a vibrant region packed with breathtaking scenery and diverse cultures.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Pitch and develop news stories for broadcast, digital, and social media platforms Consistently generate impactful local enterprise stories Develop and maintain strong community contacts Work with managers to develop story ideas and coverage plans for your beat area Gather and verify information through research, observation, and interviews Record and edit video, conduct interviews, and use graphics to enhance storytelling Deliver live reports from the field or appear on camera for recorded segments Write online and broadcast stories that adhere to editorial style and AP format Engage audiences and promote stories through an active social media presence Meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentWHAT YOU'LL NEED
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred At least two years of experience in a related field is preferredWHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience in videography and non-linear editing experience preferred Capability to work independently researching, writing, shooting, and editing stories Strong storytelling skills with an understanding of diverse audience engagement Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment Excellent news judgment and commitment to accuracy Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits. #LI-SM2 #LI-OnsiteCOMPENSATION RANGE
