The Macoupin County Democrat Enquirer seeks a full-time General Assignment reporter to cover the Carlinville area. Assignments will be based around city council, school board, business, and events.

Responsibilities:

Pitch, edit and write multiple news stories each week Conduct interviews in-person and over the phone Supplement stories with photos Work under deadline Synthesis material from multiple sources Shift work hours to attend weekend or after-work events Represent the Herald in a professional manner A journalism degree and some experience is preferred, but not required. Any candidate with excellent writing and photography skills is encouraged to apply. Adobe InDesign skills are also highly desirable.
