This beat requires a mix of quick-paced daily coverage, features and longer-term enterprise reporting. We're looking for a journalist with a proven ability to break news and develop original stories in a competitive environment. Experience covering education is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate is a clear, engaging writer who understands the needs of readers and can balance timely reporting with deeper, accountability-driven work. This reporter should be equally comfortable covering day-to-day developments and pursuing impactful enterprise stories.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop story ideas based on beat reporting or as assigned Create relationships with people in the community and government agencies to develop access to credible sources for future stories Quickly post stories online as appropriate and develop them further as needed. Use social media tools to develop, distribute and enhance stories.
