The person in this position is mainly responsible for calculating obituary costs and interacting with related families and funeral home personnel. The role also includes management of the community calendar and other miscellaneous newsroom tasks. The job also entails some news and feature reporting and photography. Option to choose full time (37.5 hours) or part time (25 hours) and an opportunity for additional hours on some weeks (newsroom tasks occur during daytime hours, but reporting and photography will sometimes require evening or weekend work). Both FT and PT status allow for some flexibility in hours with many Fridays free.

Qualifications:

Strong communication and computer skills Writing and editing talent and an interest in photography Ability to multi-task Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Possession of a cell phone College Education Preferred, but not required Previous newspaper experience a plus
