Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated prep sports reporter to join our vibrant journalism team. In this role, you will be responsible for covering numerous high school sports programs for two community weekly media organizations. Your energetic storytelling will inform and engage a diverse audience, providing clear, accurate, and timely updates online and in print. While online we present the basic game stats along with still and/or video photography, in print we want to go beyond the game stories and tell readers more about what they cannot see while attending the games. Duties Produce engaging articles, news briefs, and features that adhere to AP style guidelines for clarity and consistency. Edit videos and written content for accuracy, clarity, and impact while ensuring proper proofreading and copy editing. Fact-check all information thoroughly to maintain journalistic integrity and credibility. Manage social media channels by sharing stories, engaging with audiences, and increasing online visibility. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to develop multimedia content that enhances storytelling across platforms. Requirements Experience in journalism in print and digital content. Excellent communication skills with the ability to write clearly, concisely, and engagingly in AP style. Proficiency in photography and/or videography. Strong research skills to gather accurate information from credible sources. Exceptional proofreading and editing skills to ensure error-free content delivery. Ability to work under daily deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
Pay:
$37,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
