Job Description
ReporterWe're hiring reporters to join a newsroom that's building for the future — and we want a reporter who's excited to help figure out what our audience and our community needs most for their local news organization.
This is a role for someone who loves being in the field, chasing a story, and getting it right. There will be plenty of general assignment stories to pursue, and we're still solidifying what beats we most need to pursue. If you have a proven skill or a passion for following a specific beat, we want to hear your ideas.

What you'll doReport original stories, from daily news to deeper enterprise pieces, on a beat we'll define together based on your strengths and our community's needs.
Go beyond meetings and press releases to find the stories that reflect how people in this region actually live.
Build real sources and relationships in the communities you cover.
Write clean, compelling copy on deadline, and take the time that a bigger story deserves.
Experiment with format — narrative, explainers, Q&As — rather than defaulting to the inverted pyramid every time.
Build your digital skills so you can add photography, digital infographics and maps when your story needs it. Work closely with editors and other members of the staff who want to make your work better.
Contribute to newsletters, social strategy and other ways we reach readers beyond the printed page.
