This is a hands-on contract opportunity for a scrappy creator-journalist who can take approved story ideas from concept to finished video, often solo and in the field. You'll pitch and accept assignments, track down facts, gather info, show up on location, capture the key visuals, and report on camera with the personality and polish of a professional creator. These are short, punchy 30-60-second news reports built for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, reaching more than 110,000 followers across social channels and generating 10M+ content views per month. You'll collaborate directly with the founder/editor-in-chief on coverage priorities, angles, and final deliverables. This role is built for someone lightweight, mobile, and resourceful, comfortable moving quickly with an iPhone, small mics, basic creator tools, and a strong instinct for getting the shot, the soundbite, and the report
Compensation:
$25/hour This is a part-time, contract / non-employee role. Work volume will vary depending on the news cycle, content calendar, and contractor availability. Responsibilities You will create video reports from start to finish, including: Pitching and developing local Lehigh Valley story ideas Collaborating on coverage, angles, tone, and deliverables Researching stories, gathering information, and verifying facts Going into the field to capture visuals, moments, interviews, and "money shots" Reporting on camera in a clear, engaging, social-native style Writing tight scripts and hooks for short-form video Shooting b-roll, interviews, standups, and on-location footage with lightweight gear Editing or coordinating edits into clean 30-60-second reports Preparing videos for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook formats Keeping a pulse on social video trends, formats, and platform best practices Using performance feedback to improve future videos Qualifications The ideal contractor is a self-starting go-getter who's comfortable carrying a story from pitch to post without constant direction.
You should have:
Comfort and charisma on camera A sharp instinct for what makes a story worth telling visually Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills The ability to work independently, move quickly, and take ownership of deliverables Good judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through A field-first, creator-style mindset: resourceful, mobile, and scrappy Deep familiarity with social media and current video trends Comfort using tools like an iPhone/camera, small mics, CapCut, Premiere, Google Docs/Sheets, and Canva Knowledge of the Lehigh Valley community is strongly preferred Nice to Have Reporter, journalist, creator, or newsroom experience An existing audience or social video portfolio Experience shooting social video in the field with lightweight gear Relationships with local businesses, creators, community leaders, or organizations Light editing, captions, overlays, graphics, or thumbnail skills Experience growing accounts or going viral on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook About LehighDaily.com LehighDaily.com is a local news outlet focused on useful, community-centered journalism for the Lehigh Valley.
