Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following: Under sub-department supervisor, responsible for preparing and supervising exhibit attendants and volunteers, ensuring instruction and understanding of task and/or project is comprehended. Assigns projects and tasks that suit employees' and volunteers' skill sets. Direct and coordinate exhibit attendants and volunteers in a variety of tasks. Assists with hiring, training, and scheduling of fair time personnel and evaluates performance for future employment. Ensures the employees and volunteers understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training when needed. Assists the supervisor in making sure employees take breaks and lunch. Manages schedules, timecards and records of employees and volunteers' work. Be always available for communication with employees and volunteers during the project or task. Create various procedures to facilitate planning and ensures corresponding records are correct. Organizes meetings and communicates with staff. Assists in the design/decoration, set-up, maintenance, and tear down of exhibits. Some lifting involved. Performs manual labor and uses tools to install exhibits, display entries and set up interactives. Assists in assuring exhibit compliance with facility and governmental fire, safety, and security regulations. Cleans and maintains exhibits, which may include using tools and equipment. Practices good physical work methods, utilizes good work habits, and meets established production standards. Wears proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, googles) and always works in a safe work environment. Helps with coordination of approved events including managing events. Interacts with exhibitors and guests to provide accurate information and assistance to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience. Maintains a positive, team focused attitude. Assists Judges. Also assists Exhibitors with drop off and pick up. Assists children with various activities. Keeps schedule commitments. Keeps abreast of fair information in order to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses in person or on the phone. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed. Qualifications Excellent communication skills and ability to work with and supervise groups of various backgrounds and sizes. Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on record keeping and communication. Prompt response with regards to correspondence and processing paperwork. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel. Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with team members and others. Great attention to detail, answer phones and assist with all manners of communication including verbal, written and mailing/emailing. Follows oral and written instructions. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to alphabetize and order numerically. Ability to work independently after receiving direction. Enjoy creative projects with your hands (Fine Art). Appreciation for youth art and creative projects (Student Showcase). Working Conditions Work is indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work may involve some exposure to weather conditions. Work near farm animals, dust, dirt, and unpleasant odors. Works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary. Work consists of standing on asphalt or concrete floors.
