The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is seeking an experienced Exhibitions Manager to lead the planning, design, production, and installation of the Museum's exhibitions and temporary public art projects. Working within MOCA's distinctive Gwathmey-designed, Kunsthalle-style exhibition environment, the Exhibitions Manager will oversee multiple concurrent projects from initial concept and design through installation and deinstallation. This highly collaborative and hands-on role works closely with artists, curators, registrars, Museum departments, contractors, fabricators, art handlers, and other external partners to translate ambitious curatorial ideas into thoughtfully designed, technically sound, and successfully executed exhibitions. What You'll Do Lead exhibition production from initial planning and design through installation, completion, and deinstallation, including temporary outdoor public art projects. Develop exhibition layouts, spatial plans, artwork placement, graphics, signage, and other presentation elements that translate curatorial and artistic concepts into executable designs. Manage multiple exhibition budgets, schedules, procurement needs, milestones, vendors, and deliverables simultaneously. Partner closely with curators, artists, and registrars to coordinate exhibition checklists, artwork and installation requirements, layouts, documentation, and available gallery resources. Coordinate contractors, fabricators, art handlers, installers, vendors, artist travel, and other exhibition production logistics. Maintain a strong working knowledge of gallery infrastructure, including structural grids, power, lighting, environmental systems, accessibility, and other technical considerations. Oversee exhibition-related graphics, didactics, signage, photography, video documentation, and other public-facing materials. Ensure exhibitions are executed in accordance with applicable museum standards and best practices for the care, handling, display, environmental conditions, and security of artwork. Maintain comprehensive exhibition budgets, schedules, layouts, installation instructions, technical documentation, vendor information, and project archives. Support traveling exhibitions, exhibition openings, receptions, programs, special events, and other Museum activities as needed. What We're Looking For- The ideal candidate is a highly organized exhibition professional who combines strong project management and technical production experience with an eye for exhibition design and spatial planning. They are comfortable managing multiple projects at once, collaborating with a wide range of internal and external partners, and remaining hands-on throughout the exhibition process. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Exhibition Design, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in museum exhibitions, exhibition design, exhibition production, or a related field. At least 2 years of experience independently leading exhibition design and/or production projects, including responsibility for budgets, schedules, vendors, contractors, and cross-departmental coordination. Demonstrated experience developing exhibition layouts and design concepts and translating curatorial concepts into technically sound installations. Experience handling and installing fine art. Working knowledge of museum exhibition standards, art handling, environmental requirements, lighting, gallery infrastructure, and installation practices. Proficiency with SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Illustrator; experience with AutoCAD or comparable programs preferred. Experience developing layouts, elevations, installation drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation. Strong project management, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Experience with public art installations, museum collections management systems, and/or fluency in Haitian Creole or Spanish is preferred. Position Details- This is a full-time, salaried position with a starting salary of $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus an excellent benefits package. The position requires occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours, particularly during exhibition installations, openings, Miami Art Week, and other high-volume periods. The position currently reports to the Executive Director and will transition to reporting to the Curator upon appointment of that position.
