Position Overview:
The Front-of-House (FOH) Associate will work closely with the FOH Manager, Assistant FOH Managers, and CSC staff to ensure an excellent experience for audiences at our Free Shakespeare on the Common (SOTC) production ofA Midsummer Night's Dream,playing July 22 - August 9, 2026 on the Boston Common. In this unique performance venue, our Front of House team is tasked with helping to create an inclusive and weing experience for up to 3,000 patrons a night attending our free production. The FOH Associate will assist in coordinating merchandise and concessions operations on the Common and oversee the Merch booth during nightly performances.
Compensation:
$18.00 per hour with overtime after 40 hours to be paid in the week followingpletion of work. FOH Associate will receive a W-2 for this engagement, with the project estimated to be ~150 total hours.
FLSA Status:
Temporary, part-time, non-exempt employment on a W-2.
Location:
In-Person on the Boston Common. Candidates must be located withinmuting distance of the Boston Common, as housing is not provided.
Engagement Dates:
July 3 - August 13. Position will be part-time and remote through approximately July 15th. During the run of the show (July 22 - August 9), work days are 6 days a week, 8-10 hours per day (afternoons and evenings) with Mondays off. In-Person work will also be required on the Boston Common for CommonStage performances (July 31 and August 1, 7 & 8) and strike (August 11-13). Dates and times are subject to change. s

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain an inventory system foranizing and tracking merchandise; keep close inventory of concessions and merchandise sales and alert FOH Manager when stock is low.
Front-of-House Responsibilities:
Oversee merchandise and concessions operations in our Merch booth, including oversight of FOH support staff and/or volunteers assigned to location. Interact with audience members, answering questions and providing a positive audience experience. Assist with set-up and seating in the Friends Section (reserved seating area), as needed.
Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
This position will require some lifting (up to 50 lbs) and being on your feet for multiple hours at a time. All FOH staff participate in nightly site set-up/break-down including, but not limited to: moving and setting-up pop-up tents, rental chairs, folding tables;anizing merchandise; setting up signage (lawn signs and sandwich boards); distributing 30 lb boxes of programs. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required. Experience with ticket sales platforms (like Eventbrite or Thundertix) is preferred. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain calm and focus under pressure are essential. Applicants must have a professional demeanor, collaborative spirit, and be willing to learn. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position outlined above. Previous customer service and/or retail experience is preferred. Familiarity and experience with best practices for serving patrons with disabilities is preferred.
