Job Description

Open Eye Theater is seeking new Team Members for our Box Office to support our 2026-2027 season (and beyond!) We are an award-winning neighborhood theater proudly located in South Minneapolis, specializing in art that dares to be different! Our unique role is as a creative home for emerging artists in the forms of theater, puppetry, music and storytelling. We produce a MainStage season of 4-5 shows that each run 4-6 weeks, and a Guest Artist Series of events that may run anywhere from 1 night to 3 weeks. $18/hr Job Summary At Open Eye Theatre (OET), Box Office Associates create a welcoming environment for our patrons and handle ticket sales for our shows and events. They also are responsible for the security of cash and guest lists, as well as the cleaning and maintenance of the theater the day of a performance. Essential Functions Process ticket sales and exchanges using software tools (AudienceView), as well as use this software to generate a guest list. Greet and check in patrons as they arrive. Respond to patron inquiries over phone and email. Tidy all public-facing areas of the theater prior to patron arrival and after the show. Communicate with Stage Managers regarding opening the house and show start times. Manage volunteer ushers. Count and record box office and concessions cash before and after the show; secure for Patron Services Manager to process. Complete a simple performance report for every show. Arrange outdoor seating and signage prior to the show; arrange additional seating inside the theater as needed. Additional administrative tasks as needed. Additional Concessionaire Function If Desired While not a required function of the Box Office Associate position, Associates are welcome to also be cross-trained as Concessionaires, picking up additional shifts to sell pre-show and intermission beverages. In this position, concessionaires must learn basic functions of the OET concession POS system (Square) and act as support for concessionaires in case an issue arises. Concessionaire shifts are scheduled separately from Box Office Associate shifts, with a rate of $16.37/ hr + tips. Benefits Flexible scheduling Free tickets to attend shows on nights you are not scheduled Creative and inclusive environment Availability Required Open Eye productions are generally scheduled Thursday/Friday/Saturday evenings, with additional Sunday matinee & evenings shows. There are periodically other shows presented on Monday evenings. The typical Box Office shift can vary from show-to-show, but is usually between 3-4 hours long, from 5:30pm-9:30pm.
