ABOUT THE CLASS
This six-week program gives students ages 10 - 17 the opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a show! Students will work with the set designer to build, paint, and design all the aspects of our fall production of Aristophanes' 'The Birds.' After construction is complete, students will have the opportunity to assist in technical rehearsals with prop management, costume support, opening and closing the curtain, and moving set pieces for scene changes.

This is not a carpentry course, and students are not permitted to operate power tools. After construction is complete, the Set Design Instructor will serve as an Assistant Stage Manager helping oversee the behind-the-scenes management of sets and props during dress rehearsals and performances. Classes begin on Monday, October 5 and run every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter from 5:30 - 7pm. Additional rehearsals begin November 2, with performances on November 12 and 15.
