Your impact We are seeking a Senior Primary Designer to join our growing Energy & Power team in either New South Wales or Victoria, supporting the delivery of major Transmission and Distribution substation projects (up to 500kV) across our APAC energy and power team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity, client facing, leading primary substation layout and design, working closely with Lead Primary Engineer, Design Managers and Project Managers, coordinating local and global delivery to support long term delivery for our key clients and associated major programs of work.
You will:
Act as a client facing design lead supporting workshops, design reviews and Early Contractor Engagement (ECI) activities. Coordinate Global Integrated Delivery (GID) design inputs across offices. Create BIM Execution Plans, encompassing Revit model setup, standards definition, model coordination, and lifecycle management. Provide and lead 2D drafting and digital (3D/BIM) modelling. Serve as Lead Drafter and/or as Design Lead within a multidiscipline project team. Mentor a globally distributed team of designers and modellers. Strengthen and support BIM-led delivery and Jacobs digital delivery value proposition. Here's what you'll need An experienced senior level primary designer who enjoys responsibility, visibility, and collaboration. We're looking for the following skills:
  • Prior experience as a primary substation designer (primary plant/civil/structural) within power and utilities.
  • Demonstrated delivery of substation and transmission projects will be highly regarded.
  • Experience coordinating or leading design teams, including distributed or offshore delivery models.
  • Software experience in AutoCAD 2D & 3D, MicroStation, Autodesk Revit (SDS BIM Substation).
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) extraction from intelligent BIM models.
  • Exposure and confidence in operating in client‑facing roles, contributing to technical discussions and workshops. Career and Development Opportunities
