Exhibit Technology Specialist Orlando Science Center. - 4.0 Orlando, FL Job Details $22.50 - $23.50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Summary/Objective The Exhibit Technology Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, research, and integration of electronics, audio/video, and PC hardware and software for the Orlando Science Center's exhibits department. This position has a 60/40 split between maintaining and improving current exhibits and the research and development of new exhibits. This position supports building written procedures on exhibit maintenance as well as building troubleshooting procedures, providing improvements to existing exhibits, and contributing to the design of new exhibits and their visitor interface. Essential Functions Assists exhibit technicians with repairs and serves as a knowledge base for the teams. Demonstrates expertise in software and hardware computer systems including Windows (XP-12), OS X (v10.3-10.15), and Linux. Identifies and diagnoses chronic or systemic technology defects in individual exhibits that can reduce their efficiency and reliability or compromise the intended function. Provides and/or implements solutions. Maintains knowledge of the principles, methods, and equipment used in the development and programming of microcontrollers, PC's, show controllers, and audio/video equipment, along with maintaining a working knowledge of various programming languages such as Python or Arduino. Assists with audio/visual needs associated with exhibits, live programming, and special events. Assists with the development of new exhibits and grant projects by making recommendations to the safe, efficient, and effective use of technology. Develops custom software for a variety of microcontrollers, PC, and specialty show control systems. Documents all wiring diagrams, code, and electronic components utilized in new exhibits. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Education :

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

3- 5 years relevant work experience.

Certifications:

N/A Preferred Qualifications Possesses an inventive spirit. Effective oral and written communication skills. Good working knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot computer, electronic, mechanical, and audio/video systems as necessary. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools. Ability to read complex wiring diagrams. Experience with interactive software such as Adobe Air, Flash and Director. Ability to work in Auto CAD, Sketch Up, or Fusion360. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Demonstrates the initiative to work without direct supervision. Candidate must be responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks and skilled in the use of a wide variety of hand and power tools. Supervisory Responsibility N/A Physical Demands Moves throughout the museum. Ascends/descends stairs throughout the museum. Ascends/descends ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks. Observes and reacts to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Communicates and exchanges accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone. Operates a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Understand and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery, alarms, equipment). Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 50 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level. Occasionally works in outdoor environments. Frequently works in indoor environments. Coping with demands and stresses associated with job and work environment. Kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling - Frequently Weight Levels - Lift, Push, Pull Up to 100 pounds Expected Hours of Work & Travel This position primarily works Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Hours are subject to change to suit the needs of the organization. Nights and weekends as required.
