In-Arena Back Up Music Operator Salary:
Contracted ($150 per game) Report to: Senior Manager, Game Entertainment The Portland Winterhawks are seeking an energetic and talented individual to elevate our game day atmosphere. Our In-Arena Music Operator will have control of music, sound effects, and other audio elements during Winterhawks hockey games. This individual will help energize the crowd, enhance fan engagement, and contribute to a memorable experience for fans through well timed and appropriate musical selections. This role will appear at select home games throughout the 2026-2027 WHL season. There will be an in-person audition for this role conducted after the interview process.Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure all audio equipment is functioning properly
- Adjust music volume and tracks based on the game's pace and atmosphere
- Handle music for in-game promotions and fan interactions
- Help create a fun and energetic environment through music
- Ability to think on the fly, while also maintaining structure while reading game script
- Coordinate with production staff (PA Announcer, director, video board operators, etc.) to ensure audio transitions are perfectly timed
- Track trends in music, culture, and fan engagement to bring fresh, innovative ideas to the Winterhawks production
- Participate in all scheduled rehearsals, pre-game meetings, and training sessions as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with audio software and music channel mixer
- Basic knowledge of hockey
- Knowledge of different music genres and appropriate songs for sporting events
- Ability to stay focused and react quickly to game events
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays
