Job Description
Role Overview The SOP Specialist is responsible for the authorship, visual design, and management of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at Leisure Creations. While this role requires a strong background in technical drafting to interpret and create visual aids, the core focus is the written word. You will be responsible for ensuring that every product we manufacture has a clear, accurate, and repeatable set of instructions that guarantee safety and quality on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities Primary:
SOP Authorship:
Write and maintain the master library of SOPs for all Leisure Creations products. This includes everything from raw material handling and fabrication to final assembly and packaging.Process Standardization:
Define the "Leisure Creations Standard" for how work is performed. You will take complex engineering concepts and translate them into simple, numbered steps for the production team. Technical Illustration (Drafting-Based): Use your drafting experience to create 2D/3D exploded views, schematics, and diagrams. These drawings are not just for engineering; they are the visual "anchors" for your written SOPs.Tribal Knowledge Capture:
Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor observing veteran technicians. Your job is to document their unwritten expertise into formal, written procedures that can be used for training new hires.Procedure Auditing & Updates:
Act as the "Editor-in-Chief" of the shop floor. Whenever a design change occurs, you are responsible for immediately updating the corresponding SOPs to ensure the production team never works from outdated info.Safety & Compliance Integration:
Ensure that every SOP includes critical safety warnings, PPE requirements, and quality-check milestones at the exact moment they are needed in the process.Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Writing Mastery:
Exceptional ability to write clear, concise, and professional procedural documents. You must have an "instructional" mindset.Drafting Foundation:
Significant experience in CAD drafting (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) is required. You must be able to read blueprints fluently and create your own technical illustrations to support your writing.Manufacturing Knowledge:
A deep understanding of how products are built (welding, assembly, finishing) so you can write procedures that are actually practical for a shop environment.Interviewing & Observation:
The ability to watch a process, ask the right questions, and identify the "critical path" of a task.Software Proficiency:
Mastery of document publishing software (Adobe InDesign, MS Publisher, or advanced Word) and CAD environments.Leisure Creations Specific Expectations The Procedural Audit:
Your first major project will be a top-down review of all existing product procedures, identifying where documentation is weak or non-existent and creating a plan to fix it.Training Support:
Your SOPs will become the primary training manual for all new production employees. Success is measured by how quickly a new hire can learn a task using only your documentation.Physical & Mental Demands Active Presence:
This is not a "desk-only" job. You will be expected to be on the floor, in the heat of production, verifying that your written steps match reality.Extreme Organization:
You will manage hundreds of documents across multiple product lines; a high level of digital and physical organization is non-negotiable.Job Title:
