Job Description
Job Overview The Engineering Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative, operational, and technical data support to the Engineering Department. This position acts as the primary data gatekeeper, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of customer data packages, engineering systems, and documentation before projects proceed to production. While this is a non-designing role, the ideal candidate is a practical, highly detail-oriented individual with strong technical literacy who can seamlessly bridge the gap between engineering data, ERP systems, and the manufacturing floor.
Principal Responsibilities:
Support the organization and administrative practices of the engineering department to ensure efficient project integration and functionality. Review, audit, and verify incoming customer data packages, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical drawings, for completeness and accuracy. Utilize CAD software to cross-reference and verify customer-provided design specifications and dimensions. Input, update, and maintain engineering data, part numbers, and manufacturing routings within the corporate ERP system. Build, maintain, and optimize complex Excel spreadsheets using advanced tracking methods to manage large technical datasets and identify data discrepancies. Assist engineering with defined administrative tasks, project logging, and the processing of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Support and implement productivity and documentation improvement initiatives through interdepartmental collaboration. Maintain an active presence on the production floor, offering direct documentation and data verification support under the guidance of the engineers. Collaborate with managers and engineers to troubleshoot data issues and resolve routing discrepancies. Analyze administrative and data workflows to aid in the deployment of clear production documentation. Offer extensive administrative support across all engineering functions. Have an eagerness to learn and implement documentation changes on the manufacturing floor.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist in documenting manufacturing processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and requirements for production equipment. Develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions, equipment logs, and process documentation using advanced technical writing and communication skills. Audit and read operational sheets to ensure strict adherence to established data entries and production schedules. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, prioritizing data accuracy, efficiency, and clarity within production work instructions. Maintain adherence to industry and company quality standards for all managed engineering processes and documentation. Maintain physical and digital engineering archives, ensuring secure and organized data transfers between customers, engineering, and purchasing. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Maintain compliance with company safety policies by adhering to all established safety protocols and procedures. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Advanced computer literacy is essential, along with the expert ability to read, write, review, and approve technical data and documentation. Participate in company-sponsored and specialized training programs to enhance skills and professional development. Desired Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a technical, business, or related field preferred. 2-4 years of relevant administrative or data support experience in a manufacturing, machining, or electronics assembly environment. Advanced, demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data validation, and complex formatting). Proven experience operating within an ERP/MRP system (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle) entering and auditing engineering or manufacturing data. Demonstrated ability to accurately read, interpret, and cross-reference technical drawings, blueprints, and manufacturing BOMs. Proven technical writing capability with experience creating clear, step-by-step manufacturing work instructions or SOPs.

Employees will regularly alternate between standing and sitting according to the needs of each job or task being performed and will also endure lengthy periods of sitting, standing and walking. Tasks require bending, as well as pushing and pulling equipment throughout the facility and operating various warehouse equipment. Proficiency with computer skills is also essential and may require the employee to stand or sit while using the computer. Due to the physically intensive nature of this role, employees should anticipate spending the majority of their work hours on physical tasks. This position demands significant physical capability and stamina to effectively execute job duties. Each employee is assigned a dedicated workspace, fostering ownership and individual efficiency, which contributes to overall operational fluidity and allows our team to thrive. Regular operating hours are established as 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend work may be required contingent upon business demands.
