Olympus Controls (www.olympus-controls.com) is a fast-paced Automation Company that has an opportunity for a Technical Writer I to join our growing company. We are looking for a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist I to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. You will join a team who works collaboratively with engineering, quality, product managers, and usability experts to make our products user-friendly.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Independently gather information from engineering and production personnel to design, organize, and generate clear technical work instructions for electromechanical device assembly.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing team members on the floor to fully understand the physical build process.
  • Capture clear, high-quality photographs of critical assembly details to integrate into documentation.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers to compile data, authoring comprehensive operator's manuals, detailed user guides, and technical manuals for end-users of automation work cells.
  • Support the development, optimization, and standardization of documentation templates.
  • Research and interpret regulatory documentation to build robust technical files demonstrating how products comply with relevant regulations.
  • Compile, organize, and collate data packages to support formal CE marking submission documentation.
  • Investigate international standards to determine their applicability to products and ensure alignment.
  • Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other cross-functional process documentation.
  • Review, revise, and update existing documentation to incorporate redlines, engineering changes, and current standards.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of manufacturing, engineering, and quality processes to translate complex technical data into simple, user-friendly content.
  • Evaluate legacy content and collaborate with senior team members to develop innovative approaches for documentation improvement.
  • Maintain a strict adherence to version control, revision control, and configuration management protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some hands-on experience in a technical field highly preferred; preferably in manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand complex topics.
  • Previous experience generating written material and/or procedural materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and MS Teams.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or equivalent photo editing software preferred.
