Qualifications GMP Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Technical Writer, Facilities is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving written documentation that supports Facilities operations, maintenance programs, safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and departmental procedures. This role partners closely with Facilities, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, and other functional areas to develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that ensures consistency, operational efficiency, and compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, write, edit, format, and maintain Facilities documentation, including: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) o Work Instructions o Preventive Maintenance Procedures Equipment Manuals Facilities Standards Emergency Response Procedures Safety Documentation Training Materials Validation and Commissioning Support Documents Regulatory and Compliance Documentation Collaborate with Facilities personnel, engineers, technicians, contractors, and subject matter experts to gather technical information and document operational processes. Conduct document reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with company standards. Maintain document control practices, including version control, approvals, distribution, and archival of records. Support audits and inspections by organizing and maintaining facility-related documentation. Assist in developing and implementing document management systems and best practices. Review existing procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, usability, and compliance. Create flowcharts, diagrams, forms, checklists, and visual work aids to support operational activities. Ensure documentation complies with applicable regulatory requirements, quality standards, and internal policies. Coordinate periodic reviews and updates of existing documentation to reflect operational changes. Assist with training initiatives by developing instructional materials and supporting documentation. Participate in cross-functional projects involving facility upgrades, equipment installations, and process improvements. Produce accurate, compliant, and user-friendly documentation. Maintain documentation in a state of audit readiness. Demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills. Build effective working relationships with Facilities, EHS, Quality, and Engineering teams. Support continuous improvement through clear, standardized documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience with GMP Quality Management Systems (i.e deviations, change controls, investigations, etc) Preferred Qualifications Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, laboratory, manufacturing, or GMPregulated environments. Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo, eMaint, FMX, SAP PM, or similar). Experience supporting regulatory inspections and audits. Knowledge of facilities systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, water systems, building automation systems, life safety systems and Blue Mountain
RAM. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit for extended periods while preparing documentation. Occasional standing, walking, and facility tours to observe operations and gather information. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Ability to access operational and mechanical areas while following applicable safety requirements.
