Project Lead / Senior Scientific Writer Fully Remote

  • About the Role
  • We are seeking a
  • Project Lead / Senior Scientific Writer
  • to support the review and approval of clearance actions (e.g., funding, protocol, publication). This position is contingent upon contract award. This is a fully remote position; candidates must be based and reside in the United States.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Write and/or edit technical and scientific documents including scientific manuscripts to provide support for interpretation and explanation of a wide range of topics.
Tailor written products for specific audiences with differing levels of interest and understanding of the subject matter. + Support development of technical writing capacity among Atlanta-based and field staff. + Assist in the document development and review process to ensure quality of scientific/technical documents (articles, scientific manuscripts, guidance documents) before they are input into the official clearance system, including negotiating and incorporating pre-clearance comments in coordination with primary author. + Assist in overseeing the finalization and clearing of publications, including final reviews of documents for logic, clarity, style, consistency, and format consistent with the intended publication. + Write and publish documents in support of Professional support services provided for publication to web. Requirements
  • Required Experience and Skills
  • + Minimum of
  • 5 years of experience
  • writing, editing, and coordinating scientific, technical, or public health documents.
+ 2 years of prior experience working at CDC required. + Demonstrated experience developing and editing: 1. Scientific manuscripts 2. Peer-reviewed journal articles 3. Technical reports 4. Guidance documents 5. Research protocols 6. Funding or clearance packages + Experience supporting document review, approval, and publication workflows. + Experience collaborating with subject matter experts, researchers, scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, and program staff. + Experience managing multiple concurrent document review cycles and competing deadlines. + Superior multi-tasking and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments, while remaining flexible to changing priorities and new initiatives. + Experience collaborating with stakeholders and external partners. + Responsive stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. + Experience writing, reviewing, and editing internal and external program communication materials. + Experience working with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom meeting management. + Strong attention to detail. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to efficiently manage and respond to multiple requests and priorities. + Ability to think critically, analyze situations and data, and solve problems. + Ability to obtain government clearance. + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Education and Training
  • + Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Life Sciences, Epidemiology, Biomedical Sciences, Health Communications, Technical Writing, or a related scientific discipline. + Master's degree (MPH, MS, MPH, MPA, or related field) preferred.
  • Physical Requirements
  • + Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. + May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
