Technical Writer

Job Summary An employer in the Waco, TX area is seeking a Lead Technical Writer to support commercial and government aviation programs. This role focuses on reviewing and improving technical documentation for airborne and ground‑based mission systems. You'll work closely with engineers and program teams to ensure flight manuals, maintenance manuals, and related documentation are accurate, clear, and compliant with industry and government standards. Duties Review and validate flight, maintenance, and mission systems documentation Analyze operational procedures, troubleshooting steps, and repair processes Collaborate with engineers to understand technical requirements and drawings Perform technical, grammatical, and formatting reviews using Adobe FrameMaker Ensure compliance with DoD, FAA, and applicable military documentation standards Support project schedules, milestones, and continuous process improvements Desired Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of technical writing experience supporting DoD or military aircraft Active Secret clearance or Ability to obtain Experience writing flight and/or maintenance manuals Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker Nice to Have Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree Military operational experience Air Force program experience

Pay:

$45.00 - $55.00 per hour
