We write, produce, shoot and edit in close collaboration across the organization, with a special focus on vertical video, covering breaking news, trending topics and the issues that matter most. From the day's biggest headlines to the stories driving conversation, we aim to inform and engage the largest global digital audience in news today. This DC-based daily news producer is responsible for pitching and producing video news stories that will resonate with CNN's digital audience, with a particular focus on politics, major political figures and the policy issues shaping the national conversation. They will monitor the news of the day, pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, edit video in-house, and film with reporters at the office and, on occasion, in the field. They will bring strong editorial news judgment, a passion for political journalism and sharp, creative thinking to explain the news clearly and accurately. The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and enjoys the challenge of short-form editing. They are a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help at a moment's notice. They should have extensive experience working independently, writing scripts and editing projects in Adobe Premiere. They can assess the news value of a story, use data to predict audience interest and bring a keen interest in politics to their work. A love of news and creative mindset are a must, along with an ability to navigate a large deadline-driven organization.
