Job Description

ARES Corporation is seeking a Multimedia Specialist for photography, videography, editing, media management, and live video productions for NASA missions at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The work will be in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA s communication to the outside world. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Capture and record photo and video content for NASA missions at KSC and other locations as needed to support mission objectives. Operate cameras, set up lighting, stage elements, and handle other production equipment for live broadcasts and streams for NASA missions and other events as identified by management. Participate in strategy, creative planning, concept development, and visual direction for communications projects. Edit video content into news packages, social media reels, and feature videos for distribution on NASA or partner platforms. Process and post images to platforms for distribution. This includes adding metadata, overseeing review process, obtaining approvals, and posting photos and videos as directed. Stay current on emerging trends, best practices, and new technologies in photo and video storytelling. Work on-site at Kennedy Space Center; remote work is not available for this position. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and outside standard business hours.
EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS
Degree in video/film production, journalism, communications, science communication, broadcast journalism, marketing, or equivalent professional experience. At least 3 years of experience in photography, videography, video editing, writing for video, and overall video production (e.g., pitching, scriptwriting, camera operation, motion graphics creation, editing, and narration).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Strong interest in science and demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into engaging, public-friendly content. Experience operating photo and video cameras with strong technical knowledge and the ability to optimize equipment for varying environments. Proficiency with tools such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition. Ability to collaborate with creative and technical teams to produce compelling visual content. Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Understanding of social media platforms (X, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram) and best practices for optimizing content for each. Willingness to learn new skills and support projects beyond multimedia production when needed. Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with team members, directors, and producers across the agency to support missions and projects. US citizenship or permanent resident status. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, OneDrive), SharePoint, and Box.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in news gathering environments for videography and photography. Experience editing videos for newscasts, social media, and feature packages. Experience collaborating with other production team members: directors, producers, animators, data visualizers, graphics, and other videographers and photographers. Experience working with news media.
