Job Description

MISSION Navy Pier is the People's Pier, Chicago's lakefront treasure, welcoming all and offering dynamic and eclectic experiences through partnerships and programs that inspire discovery and wonder.
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a talented freelance Videographer to capture high-quality video content at events, activations, performances, and experiences. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for storytelling and can capture both planned moments and authentic, candid experiences that bring an event to life across social media, digital marketing, and promotional channels.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Capture high-quality video footage at events, performances, activations, and other experiences. Capture a mix of wide event atmosphere, crowd moments, performances, behind-the-scenes content, and detail shots. Work with the marketing and creative team to understand content needs and priorities. Follow event schedules and creative briefs to ensure key moments are captured. Identify opportunities to capture engaging, authentic, and visually compelling content in the moment. Deliver organized, high-quality footage in agreed-upon formats and timelines. Assist with basic editing or creation of short-form video content for social media, as needed. Ensure video content aligns with brand standards and creative direction. Work professionally and respectfully around guests, performers, staff, and event partners.
EXPERIENCE
2+ years of professional videography experience, preferably with events, entertainment, hospitality, marketing, or brands. Experience filming live events, performances, festivals, activations, or similar environments. Experience creating content for social media and digital marketing. Strong portfolio or reel demonstrating event videography and visual storytelling. Experience working in fast-paced environments where schedules and moments can change quickly. Experience with video editing is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong understanding of camera operation, composition, lighting, and sound. Proficiency with professional video equipment and editing software. Strong visual storytelling skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing event environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Reliable, organized, and able to meet deadlines. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and varying event schedules as needed. Must have access to professional video equipment appropriate for event production.
