Who is Forge Relations Forge Relations is a fast-growing, full-service marketing agency built within the firearms, defense, and outdoor industry. We operate as our clients' marketing department, executing from strategy/ideation to final result. Our clients trust us to build their brand voice and then embody that in the content we create. We are a tight team that works hard, moves fast, thrives in controlled chaos, and believes ownership is non-negotiable. We're not loud; we're the quiet partner behind the curtain for some of the most prestigious brands in this industry. The Job at a Glance You shoot on location: live ranges, shoothouses, manufacturing floors, trade shows, the woods. Travel is part of the job, and so is getting dirty. Mud, sand, and long days in the studio, on the range, or deep in the woods. You scale up and down. You can carry a solo shoot day with talent or slot into a bigger production crew. You know guns well enough to check that an optic is mounted correctly and catch a .223 suppressor headed for a 300 BLK. One day is a planned production with a call sheet. The next is run-and-gun with no second chances. You own your footage from setup through handoff to the edit team. You work under our Production Manager, alongside editors who'll tell you exactly what your footage was like to cut. One take. Live fire. No reshoots. Role Overview Here's the honest version: most of what we shoot can't be staged twice. A round going downrange. A first reaction. A product reveal on a trade show floor. You get it or you don't, and everyone will know which. This job will push you to your limits: several clients, back-to-back shoots, travel weeks, late nights. And here's the problem this seat exists to solve, because we haven't cracked it: volume and quality. How do you do both behind a camera? You've figured that out somewhere, and you'll show us. If that pressure sounds miserable, this isn't your job. If it's the reason you shoot, keep reading. What You Will Own The shot. Camera, lighting, and audio in environments you don't control. Safety awareness on every set. A live-fire range has no casual corners. Your gear. You're obsessive about prep and organization: maintained, packed, labeled, and ready before the truck leaves. Product accuracy on set. The optic is mounted right, the suppressor matches the caliber, and the client's product is represented exactly the way the client would run it. Coverage the edit can actually use. You shoot for the cut. The unplanned moment. When the real thing happens off the shot list, you're already rolling. Key Responsibilities Production Shoot planned productions and run-and-gun coverage for firearms, defense, and outdoor brands. Operate camera, set light, and capture clean audio, solo or with a small crew. Adapt on the fly when the weather, the light, or the schedule breaks. Field and Travel Travel to client shoots, trade shows, and events. Follow range safety without exception on live-fire sets. Handoff Deliver organized, labeled footage into iconik, our media system, so editors start cutting instead of hunting. Debrief with the edit team after each shoot and come back sharper. Requirements This is not an entry-level role. You've done this professionally, and where you are now has stopped challenging you. Professional shooting experience with a reel that proves it. The reel is the interview. Strong lighting knowledge you can adjust on the fly in any scenario, on top of solid camera and location-audio fundamentals in uncontrolled environments. Real firearms knowledge, and this is the hard requirement. You can run a range day solo with talent, set the products up correctly, and represent the client the way they'd represent themselves. Comfortable is the floor. Competent is the standard. Able to travel. Self-sufficient on set. You fix problems and keep shooting. Ideal Candidate You've shot in the firearms or outdoor world and know how ranges actually run. You edit well enough in DaVinci Resolve to know what your footage is like to cut. You've shot events where the moment happens once. Weddings count. Drone, gimbal, or specialty rig experience. You're not afraid to be late for dinner when the work gets good. The team is the reason you'll stay. Good people who embrace the suck together and double down when it gets hard. You stopped calling this a job a long time ago.
