Job Description

Field Storyteller Richmond, VA 23225 $35,000
  • $45,000 a year
  • Full-time $35,000
  • $45,000 a year
  • Full-time Job Overview We Are Not Looking for a Social Media Manager.
We already tried that.... We are looking for someone who wakes up thinking about a shot they want to get. Someone who watches a technician fix a 20-year-old fireplace and immediately sees a Reel. Someone who gets in a wrapped van at 7am and thinks — yeah, this is going to be a great day. Gas Fireplace Service has built something rare. Two locations. 1,500+ five-star reviews. A crew of NFI-trained technicians who show up every day and do the job right. We worked hard to earn the top spot. Now we are ready to tell the story — and we need someone who knows how. Here Is the Honest Truth About This Job
  • Some days you are in Chesterfield filming a pilot light repair that looks like surgery under a flashlight.
Some days you are editing on your laptop in the shop while someone pressure-tests a gas line behind you. Some days you are driving to Stafford because there is a shot you need to get before the sun moves. There is no content team. No brand guidelines binder. No committee. There is you, a blank Instagram grid, a company with a great story, and the creative freedom to figure out how to tell it. If that sounds like pressure — this is not your job. If that sounds like opportunity — keep reading. What You Will Actually Be Doing
  • Ride-along days with technicians capturing real footage — b-roll, process shots, before and afters, the moments that make people trust a company — Shoot and edit short-form video for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts — Run the day-to-day content across our Instagram accounts, Facebook, TikTok, and Google Business — Build a monthly content calendar that lines up with the seasons — fall pre-season is our Super Bowl and it has to hit hard — Write captions that actually sound like a person wrote them — Show up in Richmond's online communities — Nextdoor, Reddit, local Facebook groups — as a genuine presence, not a brand account — Track what performs and make more of it You Are the Right Person If.
.. You have a portfolio you are genuinely proud of — not just stuff you got paid to make, but stuff you made because you had to. You have shot and edited video on your phone and people watched it. Not your mom. Strangers. You are comfortable being the only one in the room who cares about the frame composition. You can be on a job site at 7am, in the edit at noon, and posting at 3pm without someone telling you to do any of it. You do not need a title to take initiative. You do not need a meeting to make a decision. You need a story worth telling and the tools to tell it. A degree in Communications, Marketing, Film, or related field is great — your portfolio matters more. This company is going somewhere. Richmond is just the start — we are expanding in Virginia. The Field Storyteller who builds this content operation grows with it. You will not be managing a content calendar for a company that has figured it all out. You will be building something from scratch for a brand that has earned the right to be loud about it. The van wraps are fire, the team is real, and the work actually matters to people. Come build something worth watching. Gas Fireplace Service is the Richmond area's most trusted gas fireplace service and repair company. NFI Certified with locations in Richmond and Stafford, VA. Built entirely on quality workmanship and word of mouth — 1,500+ five-star Google reviews and counting. We are growing fast and we are just getting started.
