Job Description

PT Local Newspaper Writer - Wright County Independent The Wright County Independent is looking for a community-minded local news writer to help cover the people, places and events that make Wright County special. This flexible position is ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in the community, attending local events and helping keep residents informed. Journalism experience is a plus, but it is not required. We can teach the right person.
Responsibilities include:
Covering city councils, school boards, county supervisors and other local government meetings. Attending community events throughout Wright County. Taking photos at major events, community activities and sporting events. Assisting with writing local news stories and event coverage. Recording meetings and helping gather information for news coverage when needed. We're looking for someone who: Lives in or near Wright County. Is dependable, organized and enjoys meeting people. Has strong writing and communication skills. Can attend evening meetings and occasional weekend events. Has reliable transportation.
